Jamaica grab Silver and Bronze on day 2 in Sopot

Kalise Spencer claimed her first World Indoor medal when she produced a storming finish in the women’s 400m, moving from fifth place to second place with a powerful late surge in the home stretch.

 

The tall Jamaican who is more famous for her exploits in the 400m hurdles finished in a personal best of 51.54 in a race won by the American Francena McCorory in 51.12. The other Jamaican in the race, Patricia Hall finished fifth.

 

In the women’s triple jump, Kimberly Williams produced her season’s best on her final jump to snatch the bronze medal with a distance of 14.49m to claim Jamaica’s second medal for the day.

 

In the men’s 60m final, Nesta Carter and Kimmari Roach finished 7th and 8th respectively.

 

On day three, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown will contest the semifinals of the 60m and both Jamaican teams will do battle in the finals of the 4x400m later in the day.
