Track and Field fans in the Corporate Area had been waiting a while to seen Anguillan sprint sensation Zharnel Hughes run at the National Stadium in Kingston Jamaica, and left a bit disappointed after he was a no show at the annual Gibson Relays last weekend.

However, they were all smiles on Saturday March 1, after seeing him perform at the inaugural staging of the Alcor Windows and Doors Corporate Area Development Meet.

Hughes who represents Kingston College, is the Carifta and Pan Am Junior Champion at 100m. After running a fantastic 10.36 at the Milo Western Relays, the anticipation has been high about just how fast he might go over the longer sprint.

Running out of lane 8, Hughes ran away from the field even before finishing the curve and cruised home with effortless ease in a time of 20.80. Odane Bernard of Donald Quarrie High School, who ran in the same heat as Hughes finished second overall with 21.83 and heat 2 winner, Antonio Henry of Kingston College finished third after posting 22.06 seconds to win his heat.

Chadwayne Walker of Kingston College won heat 3 in 22.25 but his time was only enough to place him 5th overall.
