The deal was held up earlier in the week whilst negotiations were been done over the impending transfer of Liverpool target and Benfica player Mohammed Salah. With the deal now expected to be completed over the weekend Coach Jose Mourinho had this to say.

“We allowed Juan to travel and have a medical at Manchester United.Sooner rather than later things will be finalized.”

“I asked him when the offer came: ‘Are you really happy to go?’ He said ‘I’m really happy to go.’

“The offer we have received we feel is the right offer for the quality of the player.”

“It’s a good move for Juan, it’s a good move for the Premier League, and the offer is the right offer.He was fantastic for Chelsea, and Chelsea were fantastic for him.”

Mourinho also stated that he has no problem selling Mata to a domestic rival and that he hopes that he will prove successful at Old Trafford.
