STGC ease into Junior Basketball final at the expense of Calabar

St. Georges College (STGC) eased into the finals of the ISSA/KFC Southern Conference Junior final with a comprehensive win over Calabar High on Thursday January 16th.

St. Georges College (STGC) eased into the finals of the ISSA/KFC Southern Conference Junior final with a comprehensive win over Calabar High on Thursday January 16th.

 

It was Calabar who got the better start in the game and led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter. The ‘Light Blues’ had the better second quarter where they outscored their opponents, 16-10 to take the lead, 24-21 at the break.

 

With the game being so close in the first half, no one would have been prepared for the blowout in the third quarter. STGC, led by Malik Johnson, had a massive quarter, outscoring Calabar 27-5 to take the game out of site. The scores at the end of the third quarter read, STGC 51-30 Calabar.

 

The 21 points lead of STGC was never threatened as they matched Calabar shot for shot in the fourth quarter as both schools amassed 16 points each. In the end, the final score was 67-46 to STGC who will know their opponents in the finals following the second semifinal between Jamaica College and Ardenne on Friday January 17th.
