Jamaica bowed out of the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Under 20 Championship by drawing 1-1 with Costa Rica in a decisive game played at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, in the Cayman Islands on Monday, January 13.

Four points would have been the ideal figure for the Young Reggae Girlz to advance to the semis, however they only earned two by drawing two games and losing one.

It was the Costa Ricans who drew first blood as early as in the 7th minute with a strike from Michelle Montero ending the first half 1-0 in her team’s favour.

In the 56th minute of the second half Jamaica equalized with a goal from Oshay Nelson- Lawes, with no other goals scored in the game the final score was 1-1.

The Jamaicans, one of the three Caribbean Football Union teams joined their counterpart the Cayman Islands in failing to make it to the semis while Trinidad and Tobago have made history in securing their place in the top four.
