Real Mona hoping to pull off stunner in Jackie Bell KO Third Round

The third round of the Yellow Pages/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knock-Out Football Competition will get going on Wednesday January 8th with the playing of four games; the other four games of the round will be played on Thursday January 9th.

The third round of the Yellow Pages/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knock-Out Football Competition will get going on Wednesday January 8th with the playing of four games; the other four games of the round will be played on Thursday January 9th.

Real Mona host Premier League outfit Boys Town in the first leg of their two way tie at Buttercup Park. They are looking to pull off a giant killing act by getting a victory at home to take an advantage to Collie Smith Drive for the return leg.

Real Mona goalkeeper, Neo Oxford, expressed confidence that his team can pull off the impossible.

“It is a David v Goliath match but we have seen sprats beat sharks already this season in the big leagues and even here in Jamaica. So we enter the game confident. It’s two legs, we play at home first and hopefully we can use this to our advantage,” he said.

Oxford did admit that match sharpness may be a critical difference between the two teams.

“We await the start of the Super League and I think that is the only advantage that Boys Town has on us. They have been playing matches during the festive season. We on the other hand have only trained two times within the last two and a half weeks. But with that said our team is injury free and raring to go.”

It is left to be seen if playing competitive games is the only advantage Boys Town has going into this tie.

Six of the sixteen teams remaining in the competition are Premier League teams but none have been drawn against each other.

The games scheduled for Wednesday are: Tivoli Gardens v Allman/Woodford at the Edward Seaga Complex, New Kingston v Cavaliers at the Marverley Hughenden field, Arnett Gardens v Browns Town at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex and Real Mona v Boys Town at Buttercup Park.

The games scheduled for Thursday are: Constant Spring v Barbican at Constant Spring field, Shortwood v Harbour View at Shortwood, August Town v Rockfort and UWI v Molynes at UWI Bowl.

All games will begin at 3:00pm except the UWI v Molynes game which will be the feature game of a double header at the UWI Bowl and is set for a 6:00pm kick-off.
