Sao Paulo stadium tragedy ahead of World Cup

Tragedy struck on Wednesday November 27th when a crane being used to work on the Itaquerao Stadium collapsed, killing at least two workers at the site.

It is understood that significant damage also occurred to stadium in the area where the crane collapsed and this could set back the time table for delivery of the stadium to FIFA.

Both men who were reported dead were in their 40’s.

The stadium is due to host the opening game of the FIFA World Cup 2014.
