All systems go for Ja. vs Cayman fight card

According to Stephen ‘bomber’ Jones, president of the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control (JBBC) it’s all systems go for tomorrow’s fight card at the Treasure Beach Sports Park in St. Elizabeth.  He said “at this point everything is in place except for the ring which will be installed tomorrow in time for the fights.”

 There will be eight fights, four among locals only and four featuring Jamaica vs Cayman.  All fights will be three rounds of three minutes each with a 7:00 pm start time.

 

A confident group of Cayman boxers and their coaches arrived in the island yesterday.  They did their medicals after which they were whisked away to Treasure Beach where they are staying.

 

The coaches – Norman Wilson and Nayon Anglin said that the boxers were well prepared and were ready to take on the Jamaicans.

 

The four Caymanian boxers are Tafari Ebanks, Hopkins Ebanks, Diego Rodriquez and Bruce Lee.

 

Tafari Ebankz who has a 24/7 fight history is coming here for the second time.  The first time he fought Toriano Nicholas of Tiger Gym whom he defeated narrowly on points.  They will battle each other one more time.

 

Hopkins Ebanks with a 4/1 record will take on Joshua Forrest Davidson 5/3 of Seaview Gardens Gym.

 

Debutant Diego Roderiquez will face off with Shimon Gayle of Boys Town who has only one fight under his belt while still looking for his first win.

 

Bruce Lee who boasts a fight history of 11/7 will battle the experienced Michael Gardner of the Stanley Couch Gym. Gardener record shows 19 wins from 26 fights.

 

Venue and Serena Williams who will be guests at the fight will host a tennis clinic for approximately thirty kids in the morning starting at 10:00.
