The Veterans of Irvine Hall registered a comfortable 2-0 win over the Samurai of Rex Nettlford Hall as action continued last Friday in the Sagicor UWI Guild Champions League football competition at the UWI Bowl recently.

Playing in front of a large expectant Friday night crowd, the Vets dominated from the opening whistle against a dull Samara team.

Despite their dominance of the game, the Vets had their fans on edge at half time as the score line at the break was 0-0.

The clearly agitated crowd were calmed soon after the restart when Jerome Walters put  the Veterans ahead when he poked home from close range following  a melee inside the Samurai goal area.

Midway the half, the Vets were awarded a penalty which was converted by Rochane Smith to make it 2-0 end effectively end the contest.

All the sting went out the game after the Smith goal as both teams seemed to be playing for the final whistle, with the already blunt Samurai attack proving to be very, very dull.

The win put the Veterans through to the quarter final round where they will face CHE of Chancellor Hall.
