Lucea Primary wins inaugural JaVA Hanover Primary & Prep Schools’ Volleyball Championship 2013

Lucea Primary won the inaugural JaVA Hanover Primary & Prep Schools’ Volleyball Championship 2013 at Bethel Primary & Junior High School on Thursday, November 14, 2013 on completion of the 2nd Leg Round Robin Final.

Lucea Primary won the inaugural JaVA Hanover Primary & Prep Schools’ Volleyball Championship 2013 at Bethel Primary & Junior High School on Thursday, November 14, 2013 on completion of the 2nd Leg Round Robin Final.

 Captain Romario Atkinson’s MVP performance settled Lucea into victory after they were pushed all the way by eventual 2nd place finisher Maryland All Age whom they beat 15-7; 11-15; 11-8, and host Bethel whom they fell 15-5; 14-16;11-7. A 15-10; 15-4 win over Gurney’s Mt. Primary wrapped up the title for them.

Maryland got the better of Bethel 15-9; 16-14 and Gurney’s Mt. 15-13; 15-8 who ended 3rd and 4th respectively.

The teams ended in similar positions at the end of the 1st Leg played the previous week and so Lucea and Maryland will represent the parish at the National Finals on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at The National Stadium.

Westmoreland West Zone Playoff

Meanwhile, Defending National Champions Savanna-la-mar Primary is among  eight schools set to contest the West Zone in the JaVA Deran Lee Primary & Prep Schools Championship for Westmoreland on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Loving Care Christian Academy, Farm Pen Road, Savanna-la-mar starting 9:00am,

The top four will contest the parish final on Friday, November 29, 2013 also at Loving Care along with the top four from the East Zone led by defending parish champs Holly Hill Primary & Infant that was completed on Wednesday, November 20, 2013.
