Harbour View midfielder and national representative, Khadija Shaw was named tournament most valuable player at the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 Championships on Sunday.

The prodigious talent scored the winner in the final against Trinidad and Tobago and played an instrumental role in midfield where she dominated for her team against all the teams they faced.

Speaking with Yardie Sports shortly after receiving her award, the elated teenager said, “Being named MVP is a great feeling, knowing that I am 16 years old and playing against more experienced players and teams.

“This really motivates me as a young player growing up, to know that I have the talent and body size, for a girl my age, to do great things to come.”

Shaw along with four of her teammates, Imani Richards, Mackenzie Marsh, Marlo Sweatman and Kayla Gray were all named to the tournament all star team.

Richards and Marsh were a formidable pairing in central defense for Jamaica while Shaw and Sweatman were enormous in midfield. Gray finished joint top scorer with Yoanna Calderon Gonzanez from Cuba. Both strikers finished with 9 goals. Gray had two hat-tricks in the tournament.

Jamaica also won the fair play award.
