Entering the final in the four team event in second position to Lucea Primary “A” following the Preliminary two-leg Round Robin that saw Lucea “B” in third spot and Pell River Primary at the bottom; Maryland, led by their MVP and Maad Skills Player Awardee Cordane Hudson, turned back Lucea “A” 15-13 to take the title.

In the Preliminaries Lucea “A” had beaten them 15-8; 15-10; while they stopped Lucea “B” 15-8 in the semis.

Pell River also turned the tables on Lucea “B” in the 3rd Place Playoff winning 15-13 after their 9-15; 15-14 Preliminary Round head-to-head result. Pell River lost their semifinal 5-15 to Lucea “A”.

A total sixteen matches were played on the grass court that had Refereeing services done by Western Region Coordinator Haile Mika’el with #2 Line Judging by Antoinette Cottrell, an aspiring PE & Sport Teacher.

“Overall it was an entertaining and enlightening day of volleyball that saw most of the players executing the basic requirements of the game for their level, considering that most of them began playing the sport just since last month (September 2013),” stated Mika’el, adding, “We are still in negation with potential sponsors to secure appropriate prizes for today’s event.” Hudson received a volleyball and is to receive other prizes.

The teams and others in the parish that were unable to attend will now turn their attention to the League Section that has its Preliminary Round set for Thursday, November 14, 2013 also at Cove Primary.
