Early leaders Humble Lion looks to set the mark when they resume action against Waterhouse FC in the third week of the Red Stripe Premier League at the Effortville Community Center.

In form national representative Jermaine ‘Tuffy’ Anderson has promised that three games would not go by without him finding the target. Anderson, the league’s top-scorer for the last two seasons who has become the darling of local fans, will find it hard to penetrate the robust Humble Lion backline led by Ricardo Campbell.

With the astute Geoffrey Maxwell at the helm, leaders Humble Lion, on six points will have a plan for not only Anderson, but the entire Waterhouse aggregation, hence an interesting battle is in store at the Effortville Community Centre.

Second-placed Cavalier, also on six points, have already registered victories over Portmore United and Waterhouse and will be looking for their third consecutive win against 10th-placed Boys’ Town, who have one point.

The David Laylor-coached Cavalier, despite their good showing last season, are still on the watch list and will again have to prove themselves as they try to make their mark as serious contenders.

Third-placed Tivoli Gardens, on four points, tackle fierce rivals Arnett Gardens in ninth spot with a point, in what should be a very intriguing match-up at the Edward Seaga Stadium. There will be a huge battle in midfield between former Arnett stalwart Rohan Reid now at Tivoli Gardens and Oneil “Bigga” Thompson formerly of Boys’ Town now at Arnett, that could decide the game.

Tivoli Gardens are on four points while Arnett are on one and despite playing away from home, Lewis will be expected to deliver a positive result. With both teams boasting some wonderful attacking players, this game should be worth going miles to see.

Defending champions Harbour View will be hunting their first win of the season when they face the dangerous Montego Bay United at the Compound.Harbour View are on one point after losing to Sporting Central Academy then drawing with Boys’ Town, while Montego Bay lost to Tivoli Gardens, then defeated Sporting Central Academy.

Former champions Portmore United, still pointless after two games, tackle promoted August Town at the UWI Bowl. August Town are on two points following two encouraging draws against Rivoli United and Arnett Gardens and could surprise their more-fancied opponent.

Meanwhile, Sporting Central on three points and Rivoli United, a point below, should be embroiled in a keen tussle at Juici Patties Park in Clarendon.
