Futsal Meisterschaft – five-a-side football on a Football Factory

On Sunday September 29,2013, the Jamaican German Society in association with Gamma Ray Athletics will be staging ‘Futsal Meisterschaft’ – a five-a-side football competition that will see several teams from the Embassies, High Commissions, Societies and Associations take on each other in an exciting one day tournament.

On Sunday September 29,2013, the Jamaican German Society in association with Gamma Ray Athletics will be staging ‘Futsal Meisterschaft’ – a five-a-side football competition that will see several teams from the Embassies, High Commissions, Societies and Associations take on each other in an exciting one day tournament.

Futsal, Futebol de Salao,Futbol Sala, or Hall Football, is an exhilarating variant form of football with a smaller pitch, a smaller low bounce ball, unlimited substitutions and no offside rules. This format is sure to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.

The tournament will be held at the Football Factory, Jamaica’s first and only artificial futsal turf facility, centrally located at the Shortwood football field, which is off Oliver road, Kingston 8.

Each of the twelve participating team will play in a preliminary round; successful teams will advance to the semifinals, with the top two teams contesting the finals. The top teams and outstanding players will receive awards, with the eventual winners receiving the champions trophy.

The tournament which begins at 9am,is set to kick start the ‘German Week’ celebrations.
