The Spanish Giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona both had positive starts in their La Liga campaign over the Weekend. The Ancelotti lead Real Madrid was stunned

early into their home fixture when Real Betis’s Molina put the visitors ahead in the 14′ min. However, the speed and creativity of Madrid’s Attack proved too much for Betis as the scores were leveled 12 mins later by Karem Benzema. It was looking to be a draw but Isco had other plans when he headed beautifully a cross provided by Marcello to make it 2-1 in the 84th Min.

Barcelona however, had an explosive start to their campaign with a 7-0 thrashing of Levante at the Camp Nou. Barcelona was at their usual best with swift passing in the Final third and creativity when combining play to build attack. Levante struggled to keep up and their resistance broke quickly when Alexis Sanchez made it 1-0 in the 3rd min. It was an all Barcelona affair thereafter with Lionel Messi making it 2-0 on the 12th min. Levante was trailing 6-0 before the break with Alves (23′) Rodriguez (26′) Messi (42′) Hernandez (45′) inking their names to the score sheet. Rodriguez scored the lone goal in the second half which completed his brace, to go along with Leo Messi who got his before the first half was concluded.

The prince of Madrid, Atletico Madrid also had a positive start with a comprehensive 3-1 victory away at the Estadio R. Sanchez Pizjuan in Sevilla. Sevilla’s Argentinean striker, Diego Perotti had equalized 2 mins after Diego Costa had opened the scoring in the 35th min.  The teams were locked 1-1 into the break. However, Athletico emerged with purpose and a clear intent to leave the Pizjuan with all 3 pts and Diego Costa ensured that this was the case in the 79th min. Cristian Rodriguez pushed the visitors further ahead with a strike in the 90th min.

In other Fixtures, Osasuna had a 1 – 2 defeat to Granada at home, while a day earlier; on Saturday the scores were:

Real Sociedad 2 – 0 Getafe

Real Valladolid 1 – 2 Athletic Bilbao

Valencia 1 – 0 Málaga CF

With the Day for El Classico scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at the Camp Nou, all eyes are on both teams and an eager world awaits.
