Bermuda takes the lead in CFU Women’s U-17 Tournament

A superb Aaliyah Nolan hat-trick and Eva Frazzoni’s goal, gave Bermuda the lead in Group Three of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-17 Qualifying

Tournament, when they defeated Bahamas 4-2 at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Puerto Rico. 

Haley Mallion of Bahamas scored the opening goal in the 4th minute to place her team in the lead, but Bermuda responded quickly through Nolan, who equalized for her team in the 9th minute. Eighteen minutes later she completed a double, scoring in the 18th minute to end the first half 2-1 in Bermuda’s favour. 

In the second half Nolan came out with her mind made up to complete her hat-trick and after several close attempts was successful in the 61st minute. The score line was now 3-1. 

The Bahamians did not give up, however, and in the 80th minute, Keisha McCartney scored Bahamas second goal. Three minutes later, Eva Frazzoni found the back of the net with the final goal for Bermuda, ending the game 4-2. 

Games continue on August 9, when Puerto Rico will meet Bahamas at 7:00 pm and, on August 11, hosts Puerto Rico will challenge Bermuda at 6:00pm to complete the contest in Group One.
