President of the JFF, Captain Horace Burrell has announced that as part of the effort to strengthen the women’s game in Jamaica, the country will enter the qualifications for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup which will next be held in 2015 in Canada. The Qualifiers will begin in 2014.

In agreeing to play this game the technical staff and the Federation hope to start rebuilding interest and activity around our senior women’s programme.

Alicia Wilson, Assistant Coach of the University of Florida was captain of Jamaica’s Women’s senior team at the Gold Cup in 2006 and a number of Jamaican female players have attended the University.

The Invitational team draws on many players currently playing in the 2012-2013 Sherwin Williams Women’s league.
