Briana Williams is showing increased signs of readiness for her first Olympic Trials, lowering her personal best in the 100m twice in less than 24 hours, while set a new National junior Jamaican record twice in the process.

Competing at the Duval County Challenge in Jacksonville, Florida, Williams first set a new personal best of 11.01s on Sunday.

She then promised to run even faster in the final, a promise which she kept, while storming to victory in 10.98s on Monday night. The Americans Mikiah Brisco finished second in 11.09 with Dezerea Bryant finishing third in 11.14.

Williams was unable to contain her delight after registering a sub-11 performance.

“I am super happy to have had a healthy race and come out with a victory and also to lower my record, running 11.01s yesterday and now 10.98s today.”

The 19 year old said the dipping below 11 seconds was expected, especially by her coach Ato Boldon.

“The sub-11 was expected, the signs were showing in practice and then coach never stopped believing in me. I am grateful to come out healthy and to have won the meet.”
