JAAA receives permission for Race Series from government

The Jamaica Athletics Administration Association today received permission from of the Government of Jamaica, through the Ministry of Health and Wellness, The Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development, to host a series of Qualification Trials to give junior and senior athletes the much-needed competition.

The Trials will begin on Saturday February 27th across 9 venues and will have specific events on offer. Coaches have been advised to pay specific attention to the details in order to best use the opportunities presented.

The JAAA has warned of a strict adherence to the Covid protocols the ensure safety.

“In this COVID-19 era, compliance is paramount and athletes, coaches and managers will be held to a much higher standard in order to protect everyone and preserved the opportunities made available to us. We crave your support and voluntary compliance.”

To provide equal opportunities to all athletes and coaches regardless of their location in the following events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 2000m SC, 3000m, 5000m, 70mH, 80mH, 100mH, 110mH, 400mH, 4x100m, 4x400m, 4x200m, 1600m SMR, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin, will be contested.

The venues where the meets will be held are, St Elizabeth Technical, Herbert Morrison, Cornwall College, Kirkvine, GC Foster, Jamaica College, National Stadium, Stadium East, Calabar High, UWI and Excelsior High.

The meets will be split into three sessions where the junior athletes will perform before the senior athletes. For Session 1 the Junior Girls will compete from 8:30am to 12:00 noon. The Junior boys will compete from 1:30pm to 5:00 pm while for Session 3 the Senior Male & Female will compete from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
