BIG MONEY ON OFFER AT IAAF/BTC WORLD RELAYS 2017

When the IAAF/BTC 2017 World Relays gets going in Bahamas on 22-23 April, a mega purse of US$1.26 million will be paid out by the organizers to the men’s and women’s races.

The eight finalists in each event will not only gain qualifying spots to the London, World Championships this summer, but also cash prizes.

Each relay winner will pocket $ 50,000, second – $30,000, third – $20,000, fourth – $12,000, fifth– $10,000, sixth – $8000 seventh – $6000 and eight – $4000.

The deal gets sweeter for any record breakers, as they will pocket an additional US$50,000 bonus by the IAAF.

Jamaica currently holds two of the ratified male world records in relays. One of those, the 4x200m, was achieved at the inaugural staging of the World Relays in 2014. The other record was the 4x100m run of 36.84s done at the 2012 London Olympics.

The meet gets going today with the heats of the Women’s 4x200m heats and three finals including both 4x100m relays..
