As is customary, 2011 Men’s 100m World Champion Yohan Blake will open his season at the Camperdown Classics at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, in February.

Speaking with reporters at the launch of the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run on Tuesday the 27 year old said, “Everything has been going good, the work has been phenomenal so far. I don’t want to say too much I just want to and show it. Yes, I will be opening at the Camperdown Classics, that’s my meet, definitely.”

Blake who has come on board as a patron for the 19th staging of the 5K event said he didn’t hesitate when asked to be a part of the largest event of its kind in the country.

“It is very important to me. I have a foundation that supports the cause of abandoned kids.  I am just happy to be on board with Sagicor. I am encouraging more people to come and join this wonderful cause.”

The National Sports Awards will be held later this week and Blake said that despite the fact that only three men have been nominated to the category of Sportsman of the Year, all the nominees deserve to be there.

“I think they are great nominees, all the guys played their part and they deserve to be there. I will be there (to watch), I am just looking forward to see what happens and I hope the best person wins.”

The annual Sagicor Sigma Corporate run will be held on Sunday February 19 at 7:30am under the theme “run for the fun, donate for the cause.”
