Jamaican sprinter Marvin Anderson has called time on his senior track and field career.

The former St. Jago and William Knibb Memorial High student, had a decent high school and national junior career, representing well at CAC Junior, Carifta and IAAF World Junior Championships.

He won the 100m title at the 2001 Central America and Caribbean Games and finished sixth in the 200m at the 2000 World Junior Championships.

He went to represent the university of south Carolina and central Arizona state university in thethe NCCA during his collegiate career.

Anderson went on to represent Jamaica at 2007 World Championships, finishing sixth in the 200m final, before pocketing silver as a part of the 4×100 m relay. He also pocketed silver in his pet event, the 200m at the 2007 Pan American Games.

Anderson also represented Jamaica at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he failed to progress beyond the preliminary round of the 200m.

His career hit a little bad patch in 2009 when he suspended for three months after a positive test for the stimulant 4-Methyl-2-hexanamine in June.

Having to battle with injuries over the last five seasons, and struggling to get back to his best, the Cameron Blazers track athlete decided earlier this week that he has had enough of track and field.

The 33 old athlete in a release via social media, on Wednesday thanked those who supported him over his almost 15 years long career and also cited his disappointment of not being able to make another Olympic bid for Rio 2016.

Marvin, nicknamed “Marvelous” completed his tertiary education in the is an International Relations major at USC.

He pledges to give back to the sport that has given a lot to him, as he looks to start a new chapter in his life.
