“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Coelho.

Experience is a teacher of wisdom. Ristananna Tracey, the Former Edwin Allen High school star athlete, has stopped looking back at her two previous Senior World Championship and now looks forward to her third Championship in Beijing.

The 23-year old, who is the national junior record holder and 2012 National senior champion, emerged from the Frankfield based institution and had a very good 2011 season, in which she booked her ticket to the Daegu World Championships while still a junior. She has maintained her presence among the best in Jamaica since then.

When quizzed about what led her to choose the 400m hurdles as her event for her senior career, Tracey told Yardie Sports: “I think I can be a World Champion in this event. I am the second fastest junior in the world over this event, so I stayed with it”.

Tracey has learned a lot from her senior international representation. “I take from the past championships, more motivation, knowledge how to get through the rounds, take guts from it, that whatsoever happens I know just how to move on (and) stay focused in the moment of competition and be on my A game at all times,” she explained.

Having nothing to lose and a lot to gain in Beijing, Tracey is focused on her goal for the Championship.

“This is going to be my third World Championships and my goal is always to make the final in my event. I believe that one day I will be a world beater and so God, my family, my friend and my true supporters keeps Ristananna motivated”.

She will have for company in the nation’s quest for glory in Beijing, the 2014 Diamond League and Commonwealth Champion Kaliese Spencer, Commonwealth bronze medalist and National Champion 2015, Janieve Russell, and experienced campaigner Shevon Stoddart.
