The West Indies aim to level the two match Test Series against Australia beginning today at the cricket Mecca, Sabina Park at 10am. The West Indies have not won against the Australians in a Test match for 12 years. They will need to improve their game all round to pull off what would be a surprising victory.

The Sabina Park wicket has been known to produce results and has produced a large amount of wickets from spinners in first class cricket this season. The likes of Devendra Bishoo should be very effective as the game goes on and may just hold the key to a famous West Indies win. Shane Dowrich had 70 on debut for the West Indies and will be looking to get among the runs in this his second test.

Captain Denesh Ramdin is very confident that his team can defeat the number two ranked test team, if they occupy the crease more and are disciplined in the field.

“We did well in the first match, it was a lack on consistency at the end that cost us the game and we know what we have to do,” said the West Indies skipper.

West Indies with a fairly young team is rebuilding and the Aussies provide the perfect opponent for a young player to get his confidence level high.

Australian captain Micheal Clarke enjoys playing in the Caribbean and noted that they are not taking the home team lightly.

“The challenge in the first test was good, we need to improve our game and occupy the wicket more and see what happens from there. It was good to finish the first test match in three days but we know that we still have to work hard”.

The Sabina Park wicket has a lot of grass on it, which may offer the pace bowlers some help on the first day. However the pitch is expected to wear and provide spinners with assistance by day three. A result is a likely one in this encounter and the toss may play a vital role in determining the outcome of the game.
