Flying Angel Track and Field club showed their class at the 5th staging of the Pure Water/ Anthrick Prep School track and field meet held at the UWI/Usain Bolt Track last weekend.

The Flying Angels who flew all the way from Canada made their presence felt here in Jamaica, with some eye catching performances on the track.

Flying Angels track and field club was founded by Earl Leckford 20 years ago, Leckford was born in Jamaica but migrated to Canada at the age of seven. He always had a passion for track and field and that is what drives him to be a coach as he develops youth as early as the age of six years old.

Flying Angels have performed at the Gibson-McCook relays three times and have two records at the games to date. Coach Leckford said he was happy for the opportunity to come here at a development meet once again and he and the athletes are having the time of their life.

In an interview with Yardie Sports here was what founder and Coach Earl Leckford had to say.

“Track and field is in my blood cause am Jamaican, all my family is Jamaican and I always come here for my vacation. I came to the Gibson-McCook Relays and that’s when I met Ricky Martin and he told me about the meet and I liked his idea, and i said – you know what I will talk to the athletes and parents and they all supported the trip and we are all here enjoying ourselves”.

He had a big smile on his face as he saw one of his athletes coming across the line in first position and quickly pointed out to be that, they were the first team to arrive at the venue in the morning and they will surely be present at the meet next year.
