Fresh into his first year in Class One, Michael O’Hara was tipped to give his school valuable points in their bid for the Boys title at Champs 2014, however it went all downhill for him when he was disqualified from his 100m semi-final after picking at the start of the race.
He had earlier failed to advance beyond the semi-final of the 110 metre hurdles after finishing third and was not good enough to advance as one of the fastest losers.
All that was left for him to chase was the 200m gold, but was not to be as he could only manage third-place finish.
The moments of tears and the consolation from former Calabar athlete Warren Weir, were memories probably still fresh in his mind as he entered Champs 2015.
O’Hara is a former champion boy for 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was once again back to the glory days as he led Calabar to the Mortimer Geddes Trophy at Championship 2015.
The 200m gold at the World Youth Championships and World Junior Championships medalist clocked 10.42 second to win the Class One Boys 100m finals.
He went on to edge Jaheel Hyde , winning the 110M hurldes in a personal best of 13.49 to Hyde’s 13.52 to extend his winning streak over Hyde at Champs.
The 200m was his third Gold medal of the championship when he blasted to 20.59, despite the battle from the headwind (-1.8m/s).
The 4x100m, was to be the icing on the cake as he added a fourth gold medal to his collection, with his team winning with a meet record of 39.08 seconds.
He was once again crowned 2015 Champion Boy and Boys Class One champion over Demar Gayle of Edwin Allen and Obrien Wasome of Jamaica College.
Despite, being now embroiled in the middle of a controversy between two telecom giant, due to his display of shirt showcasing the slogan of one of the parties involved, Michael Ohara came, saw and conquered at Champs 2015!
