Barco Caribbean Limited through its purified water brand MiVida, will be among the brands sponsoring at least one leg of the inaugural Digicel Grand Prix Athletic Championship that was launched at the UWI Mona Bowl on Wednesday February 4th, 2015.

The series is comprised of six athletics meets which begins on Saturday February 7th with the staging of the Youngster Goldsmith Classics at the National Stadium and culminates with the GC Foster Classics on March 14th, also at the National Stadium.

For their part, MiVida will be sponsoring the highly anticipated Anthrick Corporate Area Development Meet, which has been dubbed a “Mini-Champs” and runs off at the National Stadium on Thursday February 19th. All the top schools in the Corporate Area participate at this event and all the top athletes from schools such as defending champions Calabar and perennial rivals Kingston College, Jamaica College and Wolmer’s Boys are expected to be on show.

“Barco Caribbean Limited through our brand ‘Mivida Water’ is very happy to be a part of this fantastic new enterprise called the Digicel Grand Prix Athletic Championship. We believe that it will help to sustain Jamaica’s dominance on the track in international athletics and that it will help to unearth more special talent in the field events as well.”

“These six meets will allow the best that the country has to offer to compete against each other in good, friendly rivalry under the best conditions and will help to increase the value of the product we call ISSA Boys and Girls Champs. So to be a part of such an event is indeed an honour and we look forward to be a part of it for years to come, as we play our part in nation building.”

The Grand Prix Series has created quite a buzz in track and field circles on the island, as this is seen as an event geared toward unearthing even more track and field talent throughout the country, to ensure the legacy of Jamaica’s track and field at the international level for years to come.
