Pay up or else- WICB ultimatum

West Indies,India,

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has once again come a calling for their “pound of flesh” from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), regarding their financial compensation for the West Indies abrupt end to the tour of India last year October. The issue arose due to disagreements between the West Indies squad, their Players’ Association (WIPA).

The West Indies Cricket Board has until Tuesday, January 27, 2015 to pay up US$41.97 million or face court action.

The Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat, as well as West Indies Cricket Board President Wycliffe Cameron, was sent a letter dated January 20 the BCCI calling for the WICB to pay up their dues.

“By our letter dated 31st October 2014, the BCCI called for a written proposal from WICB detailing the terms on which it would make good the losses suffered by the BCCI on account of the sudden arbitrary withdrawal of its team midway during the 2014 tour of India,” the Hon Secretary of the BCCI, Sanjay Patel, wrote.

There have been calls from many angles and spheres within the Caribbean for the players to chip in and help offset the financial cost incurred by the WICB, while others blaming the WICB along with its leaders for this present situation.
