Kyle Gregg is new drivers champion at Dover

Andre Anderson surrendered his driver championship to Total Summerbell Racing team mate Kyle Gregg Wednesday night at the JRDC’s Seaboard Marine Total Lubricants Heroes of Drift & Speed race meet awards function at KIA showroom on Chelsea Avenue in Kingston.

Gregg was ecstatic after accepting the champion driver trophy from Michelle Marks of co-title sponsor Seaboard Marine. He said that “it feel really, really, really, really good. Unexpected but I will take it. I was trailing Andre Anderson coming into the last race meet, however he had some difficulties which I capitalized on but it feel good. I have to write this one in the books.” He also said that he plans to defend its championship even though he knows from experience that it’s hard to defend. Additionally he paid tribute to his two team mates Anderson MP3 champion and David Summerbell MP4 champion for winning eleven championship among them during the last three year. Gregg is the MP2 champion for 2014.

In terms of point standing Gregg ended the year on 112 points followed by Kishore Williams 104 points and MP1 champion. Sebastien Rae the 2012 driver champion and the 2014 Bracket 29 champion bagged 98 point for 3rd position while fourth went to David Summerbell 2010 driver champion with 96 points. Kirk Diaz the Bracket 35 champion got 96 points for 5th position. Defending driver champion Andre Anderson who got no point from the final race meet ended on 94 points for 6th position. Vivian Mitchell the Thundersport 1 champion got 92 points in 7th poistion. Dayne Chuck the Improved Production champion with 88 points copped 8th position while Kevin Archer Bracket 45 Naturally Aspirated champion with 80 points ended in 9th position with Dean Shaw ended in 10th position with 76 points. Doug Gore who was not present at the awards function bagged the Thundersport 2 championship.

Kyle Reynolds took home the Motorcycle Class A champion for 2014 while David Bell gabbed the Motorcycle Class B champion.

Tom Drewer of Australia and Taj Alvaranga of Jamaica who pleased the crowd in their Radical Cars both spoke at the function. They praised the track as one of the best they competed on and looked forward to coming back soon. Drewer hinted that at least one local driver had approached him about a purchase of the of a car to compete in Jamaica.

The local 2015 race year will begin on February 21 with the final CMRC race meet for 2014 -2015 at Dover Raceway in St. Ann.

The sponsors for this race meet are Seaboard Marine, Total Lubricants, Jamaica Automotive Association, Jamaica Dekal Wireless, Knutsford Express, Chad Ad, Lasco and Klas ESPN.
