When Kingston College and St. Georges College line up against each other at Cloverly Park on Saturday September 20, it will be the first time these two rivals face each other in the group stages of the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup in more than two decades.

The game is scheduled to start at 3:30pm, but the school ground at Kingston College is expected to be full to capacity long before kick-off. Old Boys are expected to be out in their numbers for this encounter with so much riding on this game.

The two teams met late last month in the 50th edition of the Roper Cup, a friendly series played between the schools each year, and the KC Manning Cup team shaded the battle of the current teams 1-0. The game on Saturday however has a lot more riding on it than a “friendly” cup and bragging rights.

LIME has introduced a new Super Cup to be competed for by Manning and DaCosta Cup teams with Group winners being the only ones guaranteed a spot in this new lucrative competition, in which every participant is guaranteed a share of $2Million dollars. Both teams have played and won all three of their preliminary games so far, boasting nine points each and will be desperate to take another three off each other come the final whistle.
Kingston College in their three outings has scored a total of only four goals but are yet to concede, while their neighbours St. Georges have been a lot more productive in front of goal, slamming Campion College for 11 on their way to amassing 16 goals while conceding one.

The Bertis Bell coached STGC boasts the likes of national Under-17 player Alex Marshall while KC is devoid of star players. The “Purples” however are a solid unit and showed maturity in the Roper Cup game when they put in a disciplined performance to shut out the “Blues”.

It may be a game of attack versus defence in which concentration and discipline will be pushed to the limit. Neither team will want to lose this game, as recovery to win the group is highly unlikely should such a mishap befall either of them.

This fixture has all the markings of an instant classic and the fans will be hoping to see a great game of football
