In December of 2009 one of the most anticipated and exciting Manning Cup finals took place, as Bridgeport High School took on eventual champions St George’s College at the National Stadium. Some outstanding and talented youngsters were featured in that game. One such talent was the little midfield general from Bridgeport High, Jamiel Hardware.

Hardware, who hails from a long history of Hardware’s was easily one of the most talented in his age group and after his second place finish in the Manning Cup, went on to captain Boys Town FC of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), Under 20 Knock Out title in 2010 .

Hardware then went on to a brief college stint at Jefferson College in United States, where he scored 13 goals in 8 games while playing in a midfield role. Hardware was then named as the school’s MVP before having several trial stints with other clubs, and then he was picked up by Swedish 2nd division club Motala AIF. He was featured in only 7 games and scored only once.

Hardware then left Sweden and went back to USA as he felt the need to play on a regular basis. Whilst back in the States the midfielder was swooped up by his current club Harrisburg City Islanders who plays in USL PRO League. He had to play second fiddle to the club’s already starting midfielder on arrival.

Hard work and dedication has seen the 22 year old soar at the club and he is now the starting midfielder at Harrisburg. He has started in the club’s first 6 games so far this season and will also start in the club’s home game on Wednesday July 23rd starting at 7:00pm (est).

Speaking with Yardie Sports by phone, Hardware says he is even more committed to his club with the team focus being on winning the league and for him personally getting into the national set up will be the ultimate goal. Hardware desperately wants to play a part in getting Jamaica to the next World Cup.

He will be hoping that his exploits won’t go unnoticed and that one day soon he will be getting a call from the National coach, Winfried Schaffer.
