Kingston, Jamaica: The popularity of obstacle race events is rising globally, and is now a part of the active lifestyle calendar in Jamaica with the introduction of the Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge.

Jamaican adventure seekers, fitness buffs, endurance athletes and all those who love good, dirty, fun challenges will have the chance to test their “tuffness” when the Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge comes to Caymanas Park in-field on Sunday, June 22.

A 5 mile military-style obstacle course, The Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge is designed to test all around strength, stamina and mental grit. The course will consist of 17 obstacles, calling for participants go through mud, ice and water, as well as jump over walls and crawl under barbed wire, amongst other challenges.

“Tuff Warrior is an un-timed event where teamwork is crucial and your only competition is yourself,” said Martin Lewis, CEO of ONE Nation Entertainment, the promoters of Tuff Warrior. “Complete the course to discover a camaraderie with your team mates and other participants, and emerge at the finish line with an un-matched feeling of accomplishment.”

Lewis emphasizes that the Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge is about having fun. “Although the course is definitely challenging, we are encouraging everybody to have fun with it. We encourage participants to create teams of any size, wear crazy costumes, and generally have a ball,” he said.

“The Tuff Warrior Challenge will be an afternoon of fun for all members of the family, both on and off the course,” Lewis revealed. “We are encouraging all Tuff Warriors to bring along their cheering squad.  Spectators will be able to follow a special path along the course so that they can provide encouragement for their friends as they tackle some of the obstacles.”  There will also be a special “Junior Warriors” activity area for the younger kids to enjoy while adult family members are competing on the obstacle course.

“The Flow team is excited about the Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge and the opportunity to be associated with another innovative event that will be a day of fun for the entire family,” said Gail Abrahams, director of corporate communications at Columbus Communications, title sponsors of the event via their brand Flow.  “Tuff Warrior provides a great opportunity for us to engage with our customers while supporting a great cause. We are looking forward to an exciting event that will leave a lasting positive impression on participants, spectators, volunteers and all who are involved.”

Abrahams announced that Flow’s team is already preparing for the event and revealed a special offer for Flow customers. “We already have 30 Flow staff in training  to join the hundreds of others who will take on the challenge of the Tuff Warrior obstacle course on June 22nd,” she said. “We are also enabling the participation of 100 Flow customers by extending an exclusive offer of a specially discounted entry fee of only $50 that is not available anywhere else.” Abrahams revealed that the first 100 customers who send an email totuffwarrior@flowjamaica.com<mailto:tuffwarrior@flowjamaica.com> with their Flow account number will receive a unique promo code that will enable them to register and pay only $50 for their entry fee for the Flow Tuff Warrior Challenge

Lewis also outlined other aspects to the Tuff Warrior Challenge event. “The fun won’t stop at the Finish Line, as the day concludes with a drinks-inclusive celebratory party for participants and spectators alike in the exclusive Coliseum festival area.”

The recent participation of a group of Jamaicans at the Spartan Race in Miami in April  is only one indicator of the interest and relevance of obstacle race events in Jamaica.  Boot camp style workouts have long been part of the fitness landscape. All indications are that Tuff Warrior is already a welcome addition to Jamaica’s fitness entertainment landscape.

“The Early Bird tickets for Tuff Warrior are already sold out, and we are fielding hundreds of enquiries via our social media channels, email and telephone,” said Lewis. “With less then 4 weeks to go until the event, we encourage everyone who wants to participate to start their training and sign up early, as spaces are limited.”

The Tuff Warrior Challenge is staged in aid of a most worthy cause as the proceeds of the event will initiate the establishment of a foundation promoting autism awareness, intended to provide a wide spread of opportunities for young adults on the autism spectrum.
