The first event to be contested at this year’s ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Championships which gets underway on Tuesday March 25th will be the preliminary round of the javelin throw for boys, which is an open event.

Red hot favourite to capture the gold medal, Orlando Thomas of Kingston College, is not only confident of winning the event but is also backing his school to go all the way and lift the Mortimer Geddes trophy this year.

Speaking with Yardie Sports at a handing over ceremony of nutritional and injury prevention products from Carimed last week, a confident Thomas issued a warning to all the teams vying to crown themselves champions.

“You can look out for me, expect great things, fireworks and all that. KC, just look out for us, we are coming big and better this year…so all those other teams, just get ready for us. They can’t stop us!”

Defending champions Calabar and St. Jago might have something to say about that, but with the performances seen at the development meets this season, fans can expect another special championships.
