Andre Anderson dominate JRDC awards

Andre Anderson who drives a Mitshubishi Mivec dominated the JRDC awards function last night at the Constant Spring Golf Club in Kingston.  He copped the award for the Bracket 27 class champion, the Modified Production Class 3 champion, the TEXACO TECHRON Heroes of Speed Meet champion with thirty eight points and the 2013 Overall Series champion with one hundred and thirty nine points.

 Peter Clarke, president of the JMMC announced that Anderson had been nominated for the RJR Sportsman Awards for the year.  He also said that Anderson had been nominated as Jamaica’s circuit racer for the year and will receive his award from the FIA in Panama on January 18, 2014.

 

Anderson was elated with his awards and nominations.  He said “I am pleased with my performance this year.  I thank my sponsor Total and my crew for their support all year through.  I could not do it without them.  I now look forward to next year to do even better.”

 

Doug Hollywood Gore bagged the Thundersport 2 Class champion for while Alan Clan Chen copped the Thundersport 1 Class champion.  The Modified Production Class champions were Natasha Chang – Class 1, Kyle Gregg – Class 2 and David Summerbell Jnr. – Class 4.

 

Other class champions were Bracket 32 – Samantha Summerbell who has been nominated for the female circuit racer for the RJR Sports Awards, Bracket 38 – Lincoy Small, Bracket 45T Kirby Smallhorne and Bracket 45N – Walton Small.

 

The motorcyclists also copped special awards starting with the Class B champion – Jason Campbell.  Class A champion went to Robert McDonald who was also the overall series champion for 2013.  Kyle Reynolds took home the Rookie of the Year award.

 

President Norman Minott who spoke during the awards function outlined some of the plans for 2014.  They included the plan to have at least one major overseas competitor to race at each meet, to make all four events next year profitable events based on a new business plan which is near completion, greater and closer competition among drivers in the various categories.  He also referred to new rule changes especially with reference to tyre use which will come into effect beginning with the first race meet on Easter Monday.

 

Title sponsor GB Energy Texaco was represented by Keith Parkes, branding and non fuel coordinator who confirmed his company’s continued sponsorship for next year after saying that Texaco was pleased with their sponsorship of Dover race meets.
