Woeful Windies fail with bat again

Another batting collapse on the first day of the second Test match between India and the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has left serious doubts that spectators will get full value for their money as they pack the stadium to watch their most decorated sporting hero, Sachin Tendulkar, play his farewell 200th Test.

West Indies lost the toss and were asked to take first strike.

They lost the wicket of Chris Gayle at 25-1 and although Kieran Powell got 48, the other batsmen at the top of the order got starts but failed to push on.

Darren Bravo got 29, Marlon Samuels got  19, Shiv Chanderpaul playing in his 150th Test got 25 and Narsingh Deonarine got 21.

The last four batsmen between them scored a single run as captain Darren Sammy failed yet again with the bat as he failed to trouble the scorers.

The paltry total of 182 all out came against the bowling of Pragyan Ojha who had figures of 5-40 from 11.2 overs and Ravi Ashwin who took 3 for 45 from 15 overs.

India in their replay were 157 for 2 at stumps, trailing by 25 runs with eight wickets in hand.  Sachin Tendulkar is 38 not out while Shane Shillingford has taken both Indian wickets to fall so far.
