As week 8 starts tonight the playoff picture begins to take shape; winning teams will keep on winning and .500 teams will have to find ways to ease their way into the picture, while losing teams will start looking into the offseason.

Favorites in the NFC South are the New Orleans Saints (5-1), they have a commanding lead in the division with no team in reach to stop them from winning the NFC South Championship. The Carolina Panthers is the only team in contention at 3-3, who play a 0-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that is in more than one way, in disarray. The Atlanta Falcons (2-4), who everyone figured would take control of the division have completely fallen apart with injuries at the receiver and running back positions, for a team that relies heavily on their offense.

In the NFC North there are the Green Bay Packers (4-2) in first place and two way tie for second between the Detroit Lions (4-3) and the Chicago (4-3) Bears, have just lost quarterback Jay Cutler to a groin injury and he will be out for about four to six weeks; which could see them slip out of contention. Packers and Lions will duke it out for first place, while the Bears may slide out of the picture as Cutler will return a little too late.

The Cowboys seemed to have emerged out of the NFC East, a conference that seemed to be in disarray, where the New York Giants are (1-6) and are completely out of the playoff picture and will be  looking toward the offseason. The Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) that seem to have quarterback controversy because of injuries at the position and the Washington Redskins (2-4) where Robert Griffin III seems to going through a sophomoric slump probably due to his ACL injury, he really has not looked the same compared to his rookie season.

The NFC West has the two power houses; the Seattle Seahawks (6-1) and the San Francisco 49ers (5-2), who met earlier this season in Seattle where Seahawks won 3-29, but I would not expect that to happen again. The Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams are clearly out of the race, as Sam Bradford, quarterback for the Rams went down for the season with an ACL injury. Seahawks and 49ers one of those teams will probably enter the playoffs as a wild card the other will claim home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Here are my predictions 1-Saints, 2-49ers, 3-Packers, 4-Cowboys, 5-Seahawks and 6-Lions.
