The wonderful cricketing spectacle called the LIMACOL CPL T20 will climax tonight with a final for all ages as the Guyana Amazon Warriors battle the Jamaica Tallawahs for the right to be called Caribbean Premier League Champions 2013.

This new phenomenon has caught on very quickly throughout the Caribbean with the games being played in front of sold out crowds virtually every night. Certainly, as the competition has worn on all the games has been played in front of completely sold out stadia. A measure of its impact is the fact that all three games played at Sabina Park in Jamaica were also sold out, despite the fact that all three games of the Sabina Park leg were played during the day due to a lack of playing lights at the facility.

Tonight’s final pits the imperious Amazon Warriors against the Tallawahs, a team they have beaten twice. The Tallawah’s only losses in the competition have come at the hands of the Amazon Warriors and in Jamaican parlance, the Amazon Warriors “have the Tallawahs ticket”.

The whole Caribbean and especially the Tallawah’s supporters, have been waiting for Chris Gayle to catch “afire” in this competition and will all be hoping that he finally does so tonight. New Tallawahs investor Gerard Butler did not hide his disappointment last night when Gayle got out for just 3 runs. He will be expecting the team captain to finally come good.

Andre Russell said he was raring to go before the semifinal last night and he proved that he was more than just talk, as the inform player smashed three consecutive sixes to end the game and pilot his team into the final on the back of sterling performances from Chadwick Walton earlier in the innings and Kumar Sangakkara who made an even 50 and was named man of the match.

The Amazon Warriors have been solid throughout the tournament and the fact that they have gotten the better of the Tallawahs twice already makes them odds on favourites to lift the trophy. They will not be worried about their opponents and will certainly back themselves to make it three from three against the Jamaican franchise and crown themselves in glory in Port of Spain.

The Ramnaresh Sarwan led Warriors will make note of the impact of late arrival, Sangakkara, who are yet to face them and could be the difference maker in the final. His stabilizing influence for the Tallawahs was clear last night in what has so far been a suspect middle order.

The final begins at 7pm local time and will be at the Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
