French right back Mathieu Debuchy has given Arsene Wenger and Arsenal a significant injury boost as he was pictured doing some hard work in the gym. The defender who was signed from Newcastle in the summer, had surgery on his ankle after he picked up a nasty injury against champions Manchester City.

Much like Manchester United, the Gunners have a nightmare regarding their injuries especially at the back. Debuchy is not expected to return before Christmas but the fans can take encouragement as the 29 year old stepped up his rehabilitation. He has been badly missed by the Gunners and his return not only brings quality to their defense but also good experience.

The Frenchman took to Twitter to post three pictures of his road to recovery. He also has a quote for the fans. It said, ‘Good session yesterday. Thanks for your messages.’

Debuchy along with fellow country man Olivier Giroud could recover in time to be available for the FA Cup third round. They could also return earlier if their progress goes well. Wenger will be hoping the French pair can return for the busy Christmas period which would afford him more options. He will need to rotate his squad during the festive period and will be hoping to secure as many points as possible.
