McAuley Primary wins INSPORTS football festival

Kingston, Jamaica – McAuley Primary were crowned primary champions of the St Catherine INSPORTS football festival, played at the Jamaica Broilers Sports Complex, Spring Village on February 14.

Kingston, Jamaica – McAuley Primary were crowned primary champions of the St Catherine INSPORTS football festival, played at the Jamaica Broilers Sports Complex, Spring Village on February 14.

 

 McAuley defeated St John’s Primary 4-1 in the final after overcoming a difficult Marlie Mount Primary 6-5 on penalties in the semi-finals.

 

St John’s, the LIPL parish winners last year, defeated Homestead Primary 2-0 in their semi-finals, but were no match for McAuley in the main event.

 

Marlie Mount finished third overall, as they edged Homestead 3-2 in the third-placed play-off.

 

The competition was played over three consecutive Fridays, starting from January 31, at the same venue.

 

Medals and trophies were awarded to the top teams.

 

As it is mandated to do, the Institute of Sports, create events such as the football festival to continue developing sport at the grassroots.

 

The competing teams are: Friendship, Point Hill, Old Harbour Bay, Eltham, St John’s, Horizon Park, Barton, Simon, McAuley, Planters, Ensom City, Homestead, Marlie Mount, Tredegar Park, Mount Moreland and Spring Garden.

 

The netball equivalent will commence next week with several teams done to participate.

Marlie Mount 3 – 2 Homestead
