On a day when the athletes produced some excellent displays of sprint hurdling at the Youngster Goldsmith Classics inside the National Stadium, young Brittany Anderson of Vere Technical High school provided what was arguably the performance of the afternoon.

The Class 3 Champs record holder, over the 80m hurdle event, stormed to a personal best performance of 13.18s in the Class 2 Girls 100m hurdles final, taking off .30s of her own personal best set last week at the Queens/Grace Jackson Invitational at the same venue.

Speaking with Yardie Sports after the race Anderson said, “I am starting off the track season very great because last week my personal best was 13.48s and this week my personal best is 13.18s.”

When pressed about a time she had in mind to run at this year’s ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, Anderson remained coy, saying that she definitely had a time in mind but not one that she was willing to share. There was however, an emphatic “yes” about her expectations to win gold in the event next month.

The talented youngster returned late in the evening to tie for first place in the Class 2 Girls 100m with Denae McFarlane of Edwin Allen, after they both stopped the clock at 11.89s in separate heats of the timed final.
