All Jamaica Junior Badminton Championships continues this weekend

The second stanza of the 2016 All Jamaica Junior Badminton Championships are scheduled for the Constant Spring Golf Club this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday January 28 & 29, 2017. (This tournament was originally due to be played in December 2016 but circumstances forced a postponement until January 2017.)

Play this weekend will be in the Under 15 and Under 19 events and will  commence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sundaywith the finals set to start at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. In the Under 19 boys singles, the top three seeds are from the Inner-city Badminton Programme. They are: 1. Nicardo Reid; 2. Ashane Newland; 3. Shamar Hunter. This past weekend’s Under 17 champion Marc-Anthony Salmon is seeded fourth. For the girls, Alana Bailey who won the Under 19 in the Junior Classics last March is the top seed while Esther Reynolds is at two.
                                          
Saturday January 21 saw the playing of the Under 11, 13 and 17 sections of the tournament which produced two triple winners. Tahlia Richardson took the Triple Crown in the Under 17 section while Caribbean Under 11 Champion Rihanna Rust spanned two age groups to get her three titles. She dominated the singles in both the Under 11 and Under 13 before wrapping up the mixed doubles in the Under 13.
