World and Olympic 100m champion Usain Bolt plans to run fast in Ostrava on Friday. The Czech Golden Spike event will be the second race for the season for the Jamaican, whose leggy season opener saw him crawl to a modest 10.05 seconds in Cayman last Saturday. But Bolt is now ready to set off the fireworks.

Bolt complained of soreness in his hamstring after running in Cayman and quickly jetted off to Germany for treatment. Now he says everything is okay and running fast is all that is on his mind come tomorrow.

“I’d be very happy with 9.8…I’m feeling pretty good. I trained yesterday and everything was better”, he assured reporters in Prague.

Bolt has approached 2016 with a renewed focus as he bids to retain both his 100m and 200m Olympic titles in Rio later this summer and he will have for company in the 100m on Friday an unusual rival in Decathlon champion, American Ashton Eaton, who will also be competing in the long jump at the meet.
