The fourth day of the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championship 2016 will be a Friday feast of mouthwatering sprinting match ups that you don’t want to miss. There are a total of fifteen finals inclusive of the 100 meters -all classes – to be completed.
Arguably the most anticipated event of the championship is the finals of Class One Boys 100m. Jamaica College’s Micheal Campbell leads all the qualifiers into the semifinals, having clocked 10.83 to win his heat. Kingston College’s Jhevaughn Matherson, 10.95s and Wolmers Javoy Tucker 10.99 and St. Elizabeth Technical Nigel Ellis 11.04s will all be looking for safe passage the finals scheduled for 8:35pm Friday night.
The defending Class Two champion Calabar Dejour Russel and teammate Michael Stephens will be looking to secure the berths in the final. Jamaica College Chislon Gordon and Kingston College’s Yashawn Hamilton along with Xavier Naire should all progress to the final.
St Elizabeth Pair of Sachinn Dennis and Conroy Jones leads all qualifiers into the Boys Class Three equivalent.
The 100m Girls semifinals action for all classes should also provide fans with a lot to cheer for.. Shellece Clarke of Edwin Allen and St Jago Pair of kimone Shaw and Shaniel English will be looking to dethrone the defending champion of her title, should they all advance safely to the final.
The Class Three Girls event should be an interesting one as well, with an expected battle coming from St Catherine’s Julien Alfred, Edwin Allen’s Kevona Davis, Hydel Ashanti Moore and Campion ‘s Crystal Soley looking to cement their places in the that final.
In Class One Girls the likes of St Jago’s pair of Shanice Reid and Nelda Huggins , Holmwood Technical’s Shanta Deer, Rushelle Burton and Patrice Moody of Edwin Allen should all advance to that final.
Other finals on the day will be the 1500m for Boys and Girls all classes, along with the 400m Hurdles Open for Boys and Girls.
There are seven scheduled field events finals, which included the Discus Class Two and Three Girls, the Javelin Open for Girls , High Jumps Class Four Girls and Triple Jump Open for Girls.
There is also action from the Triple Jump for Class One Boys and Pole Vault Open for Boys.
