The 23rd staging of the Pure Water/JC Track & Field Development Meet is all set and ready to run off this Saturday, the 10 of January, 2016 on the grounds of the Old Hope Road based institution.

The meet over the years has attracted numerous talented athletes from some of the top high schools and clubs across the country and the organizers will hope this trend continues when the first proceedings get underway at 8:30 am.

It will also be the first opportunity for boys and girls out of the highs schools who aspire to represent their schools at the Annual High school Championship, to attain the qualifying marks and time in their respective events.

Some of the schools set to feature include the likes of defending girls champion Edwin Allen High, St Jago High, Vere Technical, St Catherine high, The Queens School, and Spaulding High.

“We are once again expecting a good turn out of athletes, both current and future High school track stars. We are looking to start promptly at 8:30 and will have a lot of volunteers and personnel to assist us to this end,” a release sent by Ian Forbes, chairman of the organizing committee said.

The high school athletes will line up in Three Classes (1-3) on the boys side and four (1-4) classes on the girls side, matching stride for stride, height for height in a effort to cop one of the 10 individual trophies on offer along with other incentives.

This year’s events will be 100m, 800m, 3000m(f) and 5000m(m), along with a wide array of hurdling events (70m, 80m, 100m and 110m).

Field events that will be held this year are long jump, discus, high jump, shot put and pole vault.

This year’s staging of the meet will be provided with electronic timing, where all events on track will be timed finals.

Several senior athletes from Clubs and other institutions will also be on show at the meet.

Patrons will enter the venue at a small cost of $200.00

The organizers will honour Andrew McCrea, a Jamaica College Old Boy for his contribution to the development of track and field at the school.
