U20 seeking to emulate U17 in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship

Jamaica’s National Under 20 Women’s Squad will hold a pre-tournament training camp in Honduras between November 28 and December 1 ahead of its participation in the CONCACAF Under 20 Women’s Championship, December 3-13.

 

The local delegation departs the island on Saturday in two groups at 9:00am and 1:55pm.

 

Jamaica is drawn in Group A with host Honduras; Canada and Trinidad and Tobago playing the host first on December 3; Canada on the 5th and Trinidad and Tobago on the 7th.

 

The other Group of four consists of defending champion USA: Mexico: Panama and Haiti.

 

This tournament acts as the final qualification for the FIFA Women’s Under 20 World Cup to be played in Papua, New Guinea IN 2016.Three teams will qualify from CONCACAF to the tournament.

 

Some sixteen of the twenty players called participated in the Qualifying Rounds in St. Lucia and Haiti. In the Final Round in Haiti Jamaica were Runners-Up.

 

The pre-tournament training camp is organized by Cedella Marley, global ambassador of the Jamaica Women’s Football Programme, with the help of donations from the public.
