The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) independent report released on Monday has brought a lot of shocking news to the fore. In a 365 page report some of the top findings are as follows:

The President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), Sebastian Coe, says he has urged the IAAF council to “start the process of considering sanctions” against the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF), having previously said he would be against such an exclusion before these damping allegations and revelations.
The report by Dick Pound, the former Wada President, also calls for five middle-distance runners and five coaches to be given lifetime doping bans.
The administrator, coaches and athletes implicated in the scandal are, Dr Sergey Nikolaevich Portugalov, the chief of the ARAF medical commission, Alexey Melnikov (a senior coach and the head endurance coach), Vladimir Kazarin (the national 800m coach), Vladimir Mokhnev (the endurance coach for distances between 1,000m and 3,000m), and Viktor Chegin (the race walking coach). The recommendation is for all of them to be given a lifetime ban from sport.
There were five athletes singled out that WADA say they should be banned for life:
The are middle-distance runner Ekaterina Poistogova, the 400m and 800m runner Anastasiya Bazdyreva, the 800m runner Mariya Savinova, the 1500m runner Kristina Ugarova, and the 800m runner Tatjana Myazina.
The laboratory facilities, chiefly the Moscow laboratory which is being labelled as central to the current Russian drug, this is Russia’s main anti-doping laboratory and the country’s only Wada-accredited lab.
The confirms that the lab’s director, Grigory Rodchenkov, was an “aider and abettor of doping activities” and Dr Rodchenkov is said to have requested and accepted money in order to execute the concealment positive test results.
It was shocking to hear that 1,417 samples were destroyed by the Dr Rodchenkov led facility Those samples were intentionally destroyed preventing Wada from conducting follow-up analysis. Another interesting discovery was that of a Moscow’s mystery second laboratory.
The independent commission discovered the existence of a second laboratory in Moscow but that “its precise use is unknown”.
The report concludes that the second lab covered up positive doping results by destroying samples.
It was noted that Russian state consented in doping, but what a lot of persons were waiting to hear was the involvement of IAAF in this current fiasco.
The verdict revealed that IAAF is guilty of having a ‘laissez-faire’ policy. The former president of the IAAF, Lamine Diack, and other senior executives are currently the subject of a criminal investigation for allegations of monetary bribes for covering up doping in the sport.
The world of track and field is being put on guard by the report, citing that this present scandal was ‘worse’ than Wada thought.
The British Sports Minister, Tracey Crouch, wrote on Twitter: “It is an extraordinarily dark day for athletics.” This is a similar sentiments shared by IAAF President Lord Sebastien Coe.
