FORMER IAAF BOSS DIACK UNDER CORRUPTION MICROSCOPE

The former International Athletics Associations Federation ( IAAF) P resident, Senegalese Liamme Diack is currently under investigation over corruption linked to covering up Russian doping offences.

The man who served at the helm of track and field for 16 years before demiting office in August 2015, was charged on suspicion of corruption and money-laundering.

Money was allegedly taken to hide positive doping tests, Russian athlete Liliya Shobukhova is understood to be involved

In a release by French police, it was confirmed that the former head of world athletics Diack. is being investigated over receiving alleged payments of more than £600,000 to cover up doping offences by Russian athletes.

Diack was reportedly held for questioning on Sunday along with his legal advisor Habib Cisse, where they were interviewed and also placed under formal inquiry on Tuesday.

The 82 year old, Diack was released on £350,000 bail and ordered to surrender his passport and travelling documents.

Another former member, the IAAF anti-doping director Gabriel Dolle has also been taken into custody in Nice to undergo investigation.

With this new happening in track and field, Lord Sebastian Coe the new IAAF President, was also questioned, having volunteered to co-operate with investigating officers on the matter.
