The country’s top female 400 hurdler over the pass five seasons, Kaliese Spencer has broken her silence on the surprising split from her training base for the last decade, MVP Track Club.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday to local media house RJR, Spencer pointed out that she felt as if she had outgrown that environment and the time for change had come.

Spencer also suggested that she was the recipient of some unfair treatment and that prompted her to make the move.

The MVP head coach, Mr Stephen Francis, last month reported that Spencer had not yet showed up for new season training despite being aware of the resumption date. He went on to say probably she is no longer interested in being apart of his club.

That statement Spencer revealed, caught her by surprise, as she and the management had no discussion regarding her future, yet he ( Francis), brought a story of such to the public .

According to Spencer it was in her intentions to speak to the club and its operators about her plans, but they had no discussions prior to the statements from her former coach.

Under the tutelage of Francis, Spencer managed to secure a World Junior title in 2006 and a Commonwealth Games title in 2014, but has failed on several attempts to win a major World Championship or Olympic medal.

The most recent of such was in Beijing in August, where she finished back of the field in the 400m hurdles final. A season in which things started out well before injuries slowed it down and affected her in her build up to the 2015 World Championships.

The many time Diamond League champion and reigning Commonwealth Games champion, along with her best friend and training partner, Christine Day, have now settled at their new club, Cameron Blazers. They will take instructions from former World Champion and 400m specialist Bertland Cameron.
