Single Qualifying Standard for events at Rio 2016 Olympics

The IAAF has revised and sent forth a new set of approved qualifying standards for athletics participation at the Rio 2016, August 5-21, Olympic Games at it’s 198th council meeting in Beijing earlier this year.

In previous Olympics, there was accepted A and B qualifying standards for participants in most of the track and field events.

Entering the 31 edition of the games of the Olympiad, athletes will have to acquire that one automatic qualifying mark if they dream of a Rio 2016 Olympics showing.

The Olympic Games Entry Standards for Athletics are listed below with events and female and male respectively.

Sprints
100m – 11.32 & 10.16
200m – 23.20 & 20.50
400m – 52.00 & 45.40

Middle and long distances
800m- 2:01.00 & 1:45.80
1500m – 4:06.00 & 3:36.00
5000m- 15:20.00 & 13:25.00
10,000m- 32:15.00& 28:00.00
Marathon- 2:42:00 & 2:17:00
3000m steeplechase- 9:45.00 & 8:28.00

Hurdles
100/110m hurdles- 13.00 & 13.47
400m hurdles- 56.20 & 49.40

Jumps/pole vault

High jump -1.94 & 2.29
Pole vault – 4.50 & 5.70

Triple jump- 14.20 & 16.90

Throws
