All systems go for ACDelco National Shotgun Sporting Clays

According to Khaleel Azan, president of the Jamaica Skeet Club, everything in place for the final event of the ACDelco National Shotgun Sporting Clays championship which gets underway on Saturday with a 10:30 am shotgun start at the Knolford Polo Ranch at Riversdale in St. Catherine. The second day Sunday starts at the same time.

Ninety shooters inclusive of seniors and juniors will take to the course which was set by international course setter and marksman Gary Bloom. The course has fourteen stations with two launch areas for each stations.

Defending champion Shaun Barnes and current leader Christian Sasso will battle for the top spot after shooting one hundred clays each day for a total of two hundred over the two days.

The other disciplines in the championship are 5 Stand, Skeet, Trap and Fitasc. They have all been completed and are awaiting the Sporting Clays winner. Christian Sasso won 5 Stand and Skeet while Ian Banks won Trap and Robert YapFoo copped the title for Titasc. Sasso is the runner-up in Trap and will engage Andrew Azan in a shoot off on Saturday for the runner-up spot in Fitasc.

Barnes on the other hand comes into the championship well prepared having won it for the past four years.

The top three shooters are Christian Sasso with nine points – eighteen points ahead of Shaun Barnes who has twenty seven points while Ian Banks is in third position with twenty eight points.

The class leaders going into the championship are Class A – Christian Sasso, Class B – Andrew Hopwood, Class C – Jake Terrien who is a junior, Class D – Matthew Joshephs who is a sub junior at just thirteen years and Class E – Garth Pearce.

At the end of the two days of shooting the top six will enter the Super Six shoot off and will shoot a further twenty five clays from three stations in order to determine the overall winner.
